Re: System Restore error?

Maybe one of the engineers can offer some insight as to the error message. When you said that the restore came up after the reboot, does that mean you're back in business (system and data restored), or does it mean you gained access to the restore capability and you're still waiting to see if the ac...

Re: Merging Drives not working

I'm pretty sure you can only merge adjacent partitions. And I'm not sure whether your D: drive has the Windows Recovery data (for doing a clean install of Windows), or whether that's something else. Rather than trying to merge partitions, have you considered temporarily copying extraneous data from ...

Re: Help needed!

Forget about the replacement SSD for a moment. If you remove it and put back the original SSD drive, what is the format of that drive (MBR or GPT)? You must make sure you format the *new* SSD to match the type of the original SSD; otherwise, you won't be able to restore the contents. I suggest you t...

Re: EaseUS reporting free space different from Win 7

Nick, I don't work for EaseUS. I'm only a user of their product who liked it so much, I decided to volunteer some of my time to help others. In the "real world", I'm a (semi-retired) IT guy who does web design, programming and PC repair. You call yourself "OldNick", so you may be...

Re: EaseUS reporting free space different from Win 7

I imagine that when EaseUS engineers see this thread, they will probably want to arrange a remote session with you so they can witness this phenomenon first-hand.

Re: EaseUS reporting free space different from Win 7

That sounds a bit weird. If resetting the destination results in the correct size, there appears to be something wrong. Can you repeat the problem in a way that the EaseUS engineers may be able to learn something from your experience?

Re: VERY slow backups

My understanding is that "normal" gives compression in line with a standard zip compression. Anything beyond that will burn CPU cycles as the process tries to discover larger "patterns" that can then be tokenized. If larger patterns cannot be found, you've wasted your CPU cycles.

Re: Non Secure Site?

The more recent versions of Firefox and Chrome browsers have begun to issue warnings if you are asked to provide username/password information on a site that does not show the https:// "lock" symbol on the login page. This is an attempt by browser makers to draw your attention to the added...

Re: VERY slow backups

Since you say that image merge was *not* successfully selected, I won't spend much time on that. But, I will say that feature is meant to save space at the cost of additional backup time. I would normally expect backups to an internal drive to run quicker than to an external drive. However, if both ...

Re: On site backup vs On line back up?

Since you are an IT professional, you would know that for the sake of your clients, you should be using a mix of onsite and offsite backup. Onsite backup will provide an instant means of recovering data, while offsite backup provides the security you need in case of a catastrophic event at your offi...

Re: How to Recover

You would create a WinPE bootable recovery media (on CD or USB stick) using the EaseUS program. You would boot your computer from that device. That device contains the EaseUS restore software. If the drive itself is corrupt, you would either need to start with a "new" drive, or use softwar...

Re: Todo and Windows Issue

I've never thought to recover a C:\ partition while in Windows. I would normally use Pre-OS or emergency recovery media.

How did you try to do the recovery?

Re: Can I use my PC while cloning with ETB?

You shouldn't be changing information on your drive while cloning. Using an email program would change data on your drive. If you know your email address and password, you can use internet-based email services (such as mail2web.com) to access your email while your computer is out of commission. Do t...
