ToDo Backup 4.0 (free version)
Windows XP Pro SP-3
During the install there are the following unexplained user-selectable options:
- Centralized managment account
- Get better service
Neither of these are described during the installation nor on the web site for the description of this product.
The "centralized management account" option creates an "ET8" named Windows account. Why? I don't see anything in the "new" 4.0 version (with its new GUI) that indicates ToDo Backup 4.0 will somehow use a separate account to perform any of its actions. Is it even used by the "PreOS" boot image (to load the Linux OS to run ToDo Backup at boot-time)? For the single user, I don't see what is the purpose of creating another Windows account (in the Administrators group) since I don't see how it is tied to any of the operations available in the GUI. Maybe it's something for use to control several workstations and an install of ToDo Backup on each but then again I don't see that a "cental" management program was included to control the config of ToDo Backup on all those workstations.
Get better service. And what does that mean?
These install-time options need to be explained by the installer or, at least, have some information about them in the product description. At this point, since they seem worthless to my install of the product, I'll have to uninstall it, check the ET8 account got deleted (or delete it myself), and then reinstall with both these options disabled. Don't see they are of value to a single user of the freeware version and I didn't find information on them.
