I have one 300Gb hard drive, with valuable data.
Up until now, my means of backing up has been to use Nero backup and copy my data onto a DVD once every a week?
What would you all recommend for me to do. Should I get another 300Gb and back it up onto there? Should I set up a raid? If so, what is the best raid to use for my needs? Should I forget a second hard drive, and get some type of backup tape drive or something? |

I recommend having 2 hard disk drives. If you have crucial information, backup to a separate hard disk. In the event of a total failure, you can remove that hard disk, plug in an IDE/usb adapter and treat that hard disk as an external drive. (assuming it's an IDE drive.)
Of course, you can burn your most important data to the DVD. |

funny i found this thread (although it's a little oler thread, people probably still read it i think?)
... anyways, a while back, my computer crashed & i lost everything. i only had one hard drive at the time (one of those things that always gets put off). well to my demise, i lost everything. . lesson learnt. i consider myself the back up master now. i back up the back up to the disk to the external HD to a disk that i store in 'safe keeping'. although it takes more time (and noone has extra time on their hands these days), i'll never do that to myself again.
all the best ... sam _________________ data recovery software |

It is fairly simple to backup data and I want to say that I found a new solution called online data backup, which gives you unlimited space for a premium account, but you can try it for free, gives 2GB. It simple, secure and automatic. I hope it works for you too!

| It is funny to backup online, but it still has shortage. This method depends on well network connection. If you disconnect with the network or cannot boot the computer, what to do? |

Use the backup system that is being offered online. It will always stay safe and never get virused.. Although you will have to pay a certain amount to back it up.. |
