I have two partitions on a single HDD.
I have two copies of Windows XP one in each partition (C and D).
I would like to keep the copy on D drive and delete the copy on C drive.
I would then like to move the OS on drive D to the C drive and remove the second partition allowing me to have the OS in C drive with only one partition.
Can I do this with the Easeus Partition Master Home Edition.
I am using a multi-boot system with the boot.ini file created by Windows XP when I installed the second OS on drive D. I can open either system when I reboot. I am familiar with editing the boot.ini file from the device manager, if it is necessary.
If you need any other information, I will be happy to provide it, if I know the answer.
Thank you very much. |

Dear John Smith,
We are sorry for your problem.
Easeus Partition Master Home Edition can solve your problem. First please log on Windows XP from D drive. Before the operations, we suggest you backup your boot.ini file. After that, please modify the boot.ini file to make you load the OS in D drive. Please right click on C drive with our product, and choose “Delete”, you will get unallocated space. You can select “Resize/Move function” to add the unallocated space to the drive D.
For more information, please refer to:

As always, we recommend you to backup your system and disk with our Free Backup software - EASEUS Todo Backup (http://www.todo-backup.com).

Thank you very much for the quick response. I will try it.
Couple of small questions:
When I choose Delete will it actually delete the entire OS files in Drive C (which is what I want).
After Deleting and using Move/Resize will the remaining drive name be D or will it change to C
Thank you again.

Dear John,
Yes, you can use EASEUS Partition Master to delete the partition C (the entire OS files in Drive C) after you log on Windows XP from the partition D.
After that, you can use "Resize/Move" function to add the unallocated space to the partition D, when you resize the partition, please refer: http://forum.easeus.com/viewtopic.php?t=18196
After Deleting and using "Move/Resize" function, the drive letter D will be kept.
Please feel free to contact us, we will do our best to help you.

Hellot there:
I did as you suggested. I closed all other applications. Ran Partition Master Home. Saw the two partitions C and D. I also saw that in the main tool bar at the top only "move/resize" was highlighted. the "Delete" button was greyed out. I placed the cursor on the C partition area and right clicked. Again, "Delete" was not available. It was greyed out. Only "move/resize" was highlighted. So, I was unable to delete the partition.
What is my next move?
Thank you very much.

Sorry about the previous posting.
I read the document "How to delete partition?". Now I know that I need a bootable CD to delete a partition with an OS in it. I tried to create one from Partition Master but could not because it is Home version. So I tried burning from Nero. I ran into a paroblem. I could not find the file "image.iso". I did a full search including System files, hidden folders, sub-forlder. No luck. I looked in the "bin" folder, again no luck. I am stuck.
Would appreciate your help.
Thans

Dear John,
We are sorry for this. EASEUS Partition Master Home Edition doesn’t contain the "image.iso" file. You cannot create the bootable CD of EASEUS Partition Master Home Edition.
For your problem, if you login the Windows XP in partition D (boot from partition D) and cannot delete the partition C (the "Delete" button was grayed out), we think it will cause boot issue if you delete partition C. So we suggest you do not delete the partition C.
For analyzing your problem better, please send the screenshot of the Windows Disk Management to us.
Right click "My Computer"->"Manage"->"Storage"->"Disk Management"
You may attach the picture in the reply.
As always, we recommend you to backup your system and disk with our Free Backup software - EASEUS Todo Backup (http://www.todo-backup.com).
