Win 7 Mount Image Problem

Postby win7mountprob » Thu Apr 29, 2010 3:25 am

Hello.

Firstly, thanks for an awesome program. The fact that this little gem is free is pretty incredible.

I'm trying to mount a compressed image on an external drive. I'm having mixed fortunes. Firstly, the image will mount, however, when I try to look at the drive in windows explorer, the machine locks up, nothing responds except hitting the restart button. Trying to mount the image after this only results in Easeus freezing on 'Assigning letters to partitions' then gives up saying 'Partition type cannot be identified'.

If I uninstall and reinstall Todo Backup, I can mount the image, but get the same problem again.

Win 7 ultimate, 64 bit.
firewall and av disabled.

Cheers,

P.

Dear P.,

Thank you for contacting us.
For your problem, we think there’re two possibilities. The wrong image file or the I/O error.
We suggest you use “Check Image File” of EASEUS Todo Backup to ensure the backup file is in good condition.
If it is fine, please copy the image to your internal hard disk to have a try, for we think there’s something wrong when transmission.
We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Sincerely,
EASEUS Support Team P

Howdy,

I'll give that a go, won't be until the weekend before I get a chance.

Cheers,

Hi there,

Image check said the image was fine.

Copied the image to the internal hard drive, uninstalled Todo Backup, reinstalled it, disabled AV and firewall software, mounted the image successfully as Z, computer freezes when trying to view mounted drive, computer froze.

So, same result from external HD and internal HD - file will mount with fresh install of Todo Backup, but system freezes when trying to view mounted image as a drive. Subsequent attempts to mount drive do not work unless Todo Backup is uninstalled and reinstalled.

When trying to mount after the first attempt, device manager shows EASEUS_EuDisk_01 in Disk Drives and Unknown Device in Storage Volumes.

Dear P.,

For better analysis, please get into the installation folder -> bin and run the ErrorReport.exe and click on the "click here" to check these files first, and then press "Send Error Report" to add these files to the compressed package Main.zip. Please send the file to us.
We will analyze your problem carefully and give you a satisfactory answer.

Fortunewill, I will do that tonight.

I can't try it on another computer - the only other Win PC I have access to has Vista Home Basic, which won't mount images.

Dear P.,

Please send the Error Report mentioned in our last reply to us so that we can analyze your problem better.
You said ' I can't try it on another computer - the only other Win PC I have access to has Vista Home Basic, which won't mount images' could you describe it specifically?
Thanks for your cooperation!

Hi RT, sorry, disregard that post about Vista Home Basic, I got confused with a separate unrelated issue.

Hi guys,

So, the image mounts fine on a Vista Home Basic machine, but not on my Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit one.

Hi there,

I can do another if you like, but it's the same scenario as previously mentioned - there's the initial machine freeze on the successful mount, which can only be recovered from by a reboot, and subsequent attempts to mount results in 'Partition type cannot be identified'. That\\\'s the error report I sent previously.

Dear win7mountprob,

Sorry for the trouble.
We have found your Error Report (Main.zip file made by our product) in your incoming email, and we have replied our analysis report to you, please check it in your mailbox.
Now you said you can mount the image file on your VISTA machine, so we suggest you may mount the image file there and copy the files you needed out. Please have a try and sorry for the inconvenience.

Sincerely,
EASEUS Support Team F
