C Drive - how to increase it

Postby Andycaps » Sun Nov 27, 2011 9:12 pm

Hi Guys,
I just purchased a Toshiba laptop - switched it on, and set up Windows 7.

Viewing my drive set up through Windows Explorer I noticed the following.

Disk 1 (MBR)

*:System / NTFS / Capacity: 400MB / Used: 211.42 / Unused: 188.58 / Status: System / Type: Primary

C: WINDOWS / NTFS / Capacity: 59.23GB / Used: 49.21GB / Unused: 10.02GB / Status: Boot / Type: Primary

Disk 2 (MBR)
D: Data / NTFS / Capacity: 698.64GB / Used: 51.85GB / Unused: 646.78GB / Status: active / Type: Primary

I have no idea what possessed Toshiba to set the system drives up this way but as you can see my C drive has just 10.2GB left - I am already installing to my D drive but system updates and other activity will default installation to the system c drive.

I have downloaded the EASEUS Partition Master 9.1.0 Home Addition but there appears to be no facilities for increasing the c drive partition as there is nothing to the right of the C drive - is this correct?

Does anybody know how to increase the C drive?

Thanks
Andy

Dear Andycaps,

We think you can copy the system disk to a larger hard disk intead:
http://www.partition-tool.com/easeus-pa ... k-copy.htm

When you click on 'Apply' to take effect the copy, please tick on 'Shut down the computer after changes are applied'. Please do not power on your computer with both source and destination disks connected as this may cause boot trouble.

After you boot from the destination disk normally, you can try to extend the partition C with unallocated space on the new disk.

In order to ensure a smooth and successful operation process and data protection, please pay attention to the link below before any partition operation:
